Updated from Wildlife in Ascot

“Hello, it’s hot and dry again so please continue to support our local wildlife with water.

It is reassuring to see plenty of butterflies around after such a bad year for them last year. Hopefully there will still be plenty around for the Big Butterfly Count.

July is Wildlife Month at Sunninghill library with a talk from our most knowledgeable Trustee, mammal expert, Dr Pat Morris about hedgehogs and their relationship with us. We have put up a display of Tina Bailey’s wonderful local wildlife photos and information in the library so please do visit and have a look one weekday afternoon or Saturday morning this month.

July is also the last month for applying for your Wildlife Garden Award, a self assessment of the features for wildlife in your garden which results in a gold, silver or bronze grading. Please apply here: https://wildlifegardensawards.org/ by the end of this month.

We are still short of people to help at our table for an hour or two on Tuesday 29th July sometime between 12 o’clock and 5 pm at Silwood Park Bugs, Birds and Beasts Day. No experience needed. Please let us know if and when you could help out.

Our events this month are mostly surveys which are a relaxed opportunity to observe local wildlife and enjoy our green spaces. Do come and join us if you can.
