The Parish Council wrote to all the businesses in Sunningdale inviting them to support Sunningdale in Bloom so that our collective effort makes our village a colourful and attractive place to shop. The cost for the 45cm baskets is £49.50 plus VAT which includes full maintenance and watering.
The Parish Council purchase all the baskets on the lamp posts so that generally doubles the number of hanging baskets throughout the village. As shown in the above pictures, displays of plants in raised beds, planters plus hanging baskets can be seen in the village on the Chobham Road and on the A30.
The planters along the A30 have been provided and maintained by the Parish Council, originally using S106 funds.
We are looking for volunteers to maintain the plants in the Jubilee beds at the A30 junction and also the terraced garden.
Garden in Bloom Awards
Through the Garden in Bloom Award Scheme residents are also encouraged by the important contribution that private gardens can make to the appearance of our village. Gardens are assessed by Borough and Parish Councillors who distribute certificates and rosettes to outstanding gardens.
First prize in 2015 went to Mr and Mrs Hathaway, 38 Park Crescent, while 2nd prize went to Mr and Mrs Hill, 3 Dale Lodge Road. The residents at Meridian Court were highly commended for their common garden.
