Waste collection update RBWM are sorry for the continued issues that some residents are experiencing with their waste and recycling collection services. Councillor Andrew Johnson, leader of the council, says: “I am bitterly disappointed by the continued poor level of service that Serco is delivering to our residents for their waste and recycling collections. On Monday 14 September, only 75% of scheduled waste collection routes were completed which is completely unacceptable. I fully appreciate this doesn’t help with the immediate issue that some residents are experiencing but we have insisted that Serco deploys significant additional resources this week, at their cost, to get to a position where they have caught up with previous missed collections and they can properly assess their new routes. This will eventually enable them to make improvements and ultimately reach a position where missed collections are the exception and the majority of collections take place as scheduled, thereby delivering the kind of service we expect and deserve. Finally I want to reiterate that, moving forward, if your individual bin has been missed on your scheduled collection day, you need to report it on our website using the ‘report it’ function so that Serco has a record and can add it to their list of missed bins to collect. Any missed bins from this week will be collected by Serco over the weekend (19/20 September). Please make sure your bin is out by 7am and be aware that collections may happen up until 7pm.” If for any reason you don’t receive a collection over the weekend and you are expecting one, please report it via our website: click here.
