Waste and recycling update

Waste and recycling collections in the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead will move to alternate weekly collections from Monday 6 April during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Serco, who provide waste and recycling services on behalf of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead have seen reductions in staff availability due to ill health or needing to self-isolate during the COVID-19 outbreak. This means from Monday 6 April 2020 general waste (black bin) will be collected one week and recycling (blue bin) will be collected the following week but food waste collections will continue to be collected weekly.

Collection days will remain the same but the time of day may change. This means residents should ensure their bin is outside the night before their normal collection day or by 7am on collection day. Residents can find out which week their general waste (black bin) or recycling (blue bin) will be collected here.

Those in properties where the bins are communal will continue to have all their waste and recycling collected weekly.  Please read the full details on our press release.

Nursery places for key workers

If you are a key worker and your child’s current school or early years provider is closed, RBWM may be able to find an alternative school place for you during this time. A member of Achieving for Children (AFC) will contact you as soon as possible to discuss.

Non-surgical scrub appeal

The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, Councillor Sayonara Luxton, is coordinating a fundraising effort to provide non-surgical scrubs for local NHS staff.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Wexham Park, Heatherwood and Frimley Hospital, are in need of non-surgical scrubs to help them prepare and cope for the demand for extra staff during this major influx of COVID19. These non-surgical scrubs will help to reduce the risk of cross contamination for those key health workers at our local hospitals.  There are a number of ways you can help – donating fabric, sewing or donating money towards the cause.  See more on our web page
